Text description provided by the architects. Twin peaks house is a single storey building. This decision is based on maximizing ground floor area to provide ample space for children to freely play and for consideration of how the building blends in with the context. This allows for high ceiling of 5.6meters and spacious attic space which is hardly attainable in a typical Korean apartment.

At the front yard, one gets a glimpse into the interior space. Entrance is connected to the high ceiling communal open space which comprises of kitchen, dining and stepping family theater. Incorporated with the dining is a space that can be partitioned as a guest room. The corridor after the communal space that leads to the bedrooms is wide enough to accommodate for children to study and read and is also visually connected to the kitchen for parent supervision.

On the other side of the corridor is a covered outdoor space for children to play and learn. The adjacency of the children’s bedroom, corridor and outdoor space intends to stimulate children’s curiosity by blurring the indoor and outdoor space. Attics for children are often perceived as dark and scary space. The attic space at the top of the family theater is naturally lit to be more children friendly.
